Hope Floats… houston maternity photographer

I was watching the movie hope floats the other night, I must be getting sappy in my old age, but I remember one of the last lines in the movie…

“Beginnings are usually scary, endings are usually sad, but it’s what’s in the middle that counts. So when you find yourself at the beginning, just give hope a chance to float up. And it will.”

I think this little quote can go along with so many different situations, but I always think of it for first time mamas. I remember my first pregnancy and how excited, and yet terrified I was that I was going to have a baby. Now that baby is 5 years old and we are in the middle and everything is wonderful. Kids have a way of making life so much better!

That said, these parents to be that I met and photographed last week were so sweet and kind and definitely ready for baby. They were nothing like me when I was expecting! hehe! You can tell they are going to be wonderful parents and their little girl is going to be so very loved. It was so nice meeting you both and I hope you enjoy the sneak peek!

When this beautiful mama-to-be contacted me for her maternity and newborn photos, I was really excited and honored. She is a photographer as well is on Clickin Moms too (which I highly recommend if you are wanting to learn more about your dSLR) so I was totally flattered when she chose me to help her document her pregnancy and her sweet baby girls arrival later this fall. I had such a great time C family and I can’t wait to see you and meet your baby girl in a couple months!

Anticipation… Houston Maternity Photographer

This session was so much fun!! When K and her husband J met with me for their pre-session consult they mentioned that they loved to go out to the country and just hang out and enjoy each other’s company, I knew what we would be doing for their session. We planned a nice romantic day out in the country for this fun and out going couple to help document their lives before their baby arrives next month. They aren’t sure yet what baby B is going to be (boy or girl)… I’m totally impressed with their ability to not find out, that was always the first thing I wanted to know when I was pregnant! I had such a wonderful time at this session and can’t wait to see if baby B is a boy or a girl… Stay tuned for his/her session next month to see, in the meantime, enjoy the sneak peek!

Mother’s Day Weekend Mini Sessions… Tomball Family Photographer

In order to celebrate Moms this year, I will be hosting a set of six mini sessions on Saturday May 12th, the day before Mother’s Day. This is also open to Mom’s to be… it’s a great way to get a quick maternity photography session! Each session will be 20 minutes long and will include 5-8 digital images as well as 5×7 prints of each image. Sessions will be held in the area around my studio (the Relics by the Railroad area). This fun couple is expecting their first baby, a little girl, in a few weeks. When I first spoke with Heather about her session she mentioned that she really wanted to include the city skyline and wanted more of an urban vibe with their session. So, she scoped out some awesome locations near down town houston and we met up last weekend for their maternity session. The weather was gorgeous, they were beautiful and so much fun… what more could I ask for!? I cannot wait to meet your sweet baby girl in a few weeks, thank you for letting me help you capture this exciting time in your lives! Enjoy the sneak peak….

Waiting for Harper… the woodlands maternity photographer

A few months ago Kristina called me from California to ask me if I would photograph her maternity session while she was in town for her baby shower. I, of course, said “yes!” Once we started planning their session she mentioned wanting to keep it more modern and fresh and incorporate things that she and her husband liked to do for fun. Keeping a great style to the photographs was also important to her. I knew that market street in the Woodlands would be perfect with it’s great textures and fashion forward backdrops like Tiffany & co. We planned a session based on what they might typically do on a weekend morning, sitting and enjoying their time together, her with a fashion magazine and him with his iPad. A clever little detail Kristina incorporated was the use of items with Harper’s (her soon to arrive baby girl) name on them… like Harper’s Bazaar and To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee. We really focused on them as a couple as they waited and prepared for such an exciting time in their lives. It was such a fun session! I hope you enjoy the sneak peak…

Big News… Tomball Photography Studio

As I said last week, I have some BIG news… I’m still in disbelief as I sit here writing this blog. When I first started out in this business I didn’t know what was in store for me exactly…. I knew what I wanted and I knew it was going to take a LOT of work. I have always dreamed of having a space to work out of in a cute boutique setting. When I found a property that fit this description and was up for lease I knew it was perfect for me. So after a lot of thought and a lot of discussing with my friends and family (who have been wonderfully supportive and helpful) I’ve signed a lease for a ridiculously cute space that Jennifer Dell Photography will now call home. With my new space I will be able to do more stylized mini-sessions as well as boudoir sessions (if you didn’t know I did that check out my boudoir site here). I will also be holding my photography classes for parents here too, which there will be a date announced for the next one this week.

I’m a little bit anxious and a wee bit nervous but mostly crazy excited to see where this new journey takes me. The new studio will be located in the Relics By the Railroad shopping area on Commerce Street in Tomball and I’ll be officially opening my doors on May 1st. I will also be hosting a girls day out event with a few really cool vendors (jewelry, children’s clothing, accessories, etc) to celebrate the grand opening the first weekend in May… to get your invitation please be sure to sign up for the newsletter (over on the left of the page) it’s going to be a lot of fun! And if you’re bored over the next month or so, we’ll be over at the studio painting and working on making it pretty, feel free to stop by!
